My five second of fame through Buzzfeed. While a lot of people have said “It’s sad that they have to justify themselves on why they wear the hijab.” because, yes, it is unnecessary and sad for us to justify ourselves in this multicultural world we live in, but I personally took the offer of being a part of this project to inform others what we are: just human beings. We have dreams, hobbies, likes, careers and so forth. I shouldn’t have to walk down the streets with people pointing their fingers at me because of my hijab or accusing me of being a supporter of extremism, because I’m not and nor does my religion condone extremism. I’m just me and I chose the hijabi life.
Besides that, thank you Tania (from Buzzfeed Australia) for coping with me while recording this in the morning, and Buzzfeed for being, well, awesome :)
