Objectifying Deepika Padukone without her consent has implications far beyond Bollywood: It endangers every single Indian girl and woman.
Honestly, who the FUCK is Pooja Bedi and who does she think she is. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she had done some shady shit to get to her position because someone that brainless getting to such a position of influence and power...
Just because someone dances in skimpy clothes in an item song does not give anyone, ANYONE, to post compromising pictures of you, touch you, harass you, NOTHING. The act TOI and other people pull every day in India are all forms of harrasment. The item songs Deepika and other actresses do are out of choice and their decisions, they are in no way invitations for sex, invitations to find pictures of breasts and post them as headline news, invitations for disgusting snapchats, they are not invitations for anything.
It is embarrassing that being a woman you would even post such a thing. To even compare it to posting pictures of Hrithik and Salman is such a joke and strongly reflects on the incapacity of your critical thinking skills. Men like Hrithik or any men for that matter have to plan which train they take after tuitions and which stop to get off at if they are traveling after sun sets because god forbid someone rape them in a dark corner. They are NOT the ones who are harassed by classmates or by police officers if a bra strap is showing. They don't have to worry about being shamed in front of society for acting sexy.
REGARDLESS, if they had a photos of their "package" or even their abs made publicly available in the same tasteless that TOI and many other newspapers do...and IF they had a problem with it and felt violated, they by every means have a right to! THUS, your argument is absolutely baseless in any way you look at it. No matter the gender, what someone portrays on screen does not dismiss all rights you have over your OWN body. Unfortunately, it's women who suffer the most from this phenomenon in India and that is why we need strong women like Deepika with large influence to take a stand. I am proud she wasn't afraid to speak out against negative and mean arguments like yours. #istandwithdeepika
So so so proud of Deep and her public supporters. And so so soooo disgusted by Times of India. The leading publication shouldn’t have to resort to such sleazy tactics to get an audience. If that’s what it’s come to then maybe pack your bags because clearly this media industry isn't cut out for u tool bags. CHECK out this nonsense that provoked her:
You wouldn't publish a stream headlining “packages” of Bollywood male actors would you?? Why, when a successful woman is doing well based on her hard work and merit do you people always have to demean her and break her down to her physical attributes? Here's their response which they later deleted along with the article:
Oh how precious! Hey why don't I create a collage of your mother and your sisters' breasts? Would reallyyy LOVE to compliment them. I feel sorry for them to have offspring like you to thank God for...
People have really shown solidarity with Deep and trending on twitter is the #istandwithdeepika hashtag.
You can still attempt to fix this TOI. Publicly apologize instead of any other misogynistic bullshit, remove any other similar articles from your site, and fire the employee/s who thought this was a good idea and their boss/es who approved it. I understand entertainment news exists and it’s one thing to create say a 'hottest women' list and a video of showcasing a woman's physical assets like it's a museum gallery. It’s more fitting of a porn site really..pathetic. ACTUALLY, I take that back, even a porn site has more respect because they treat their employees with more equality...
Please join me in boycotting TOI until these demands are fulfilled. I have plenty of other news sources (I can give them to you too if u need) where I can get quality news in all subjects and still not feel violated for being a woman. For now sticking with DNA!
