Speaking of Emily Blunt (again)...

I think there is no more fitting way to break in a new US citizenship than exercising your 1st amendment rights. People that have a problem with that should question if they’re in the right country. 

The only people that squelch speech are on the far left (like SJWs) or the far right (like neo-cons). Perhaps those groups could form their own country and take turns trying to shut each other up. Then the rest of us will happily get on with and share our lives.

I stand with Emily. Welcome to the US again, this time as a citizen.

#IStandWithEmily Trending Event

We will be having a trending event to show our support for @exorcisingemily on November 8th. It will be 3-5pm Eastern Time. (For times in your time zone, please click here: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html.) We will be using both the #IStandWithEmily tag which currently has over 33K tweets and a second tag #EmilyDeservesAnswers. We will try to trend the second one, so please do not use it until 3pm Eastern Time. Emily Rose is a positive, kind, and fun Supernatural fan. She helps run spnantibullying and organized the Supernatural Season 10 gift baskets. She was falsely accused and ejected from the front row in the morning of the last day of Supernatural Chicon.* Creation has made this right for Emily by lifting their ban and they will be paying her way (airfare, hotel, front row tickets, etc) to one of their future conventions. However, Clif Kosterman, Jensen and Jared’s bodyguard, has not apologized or publicly retracted his accusation against Emily. (He did eventually delete the tweet which exposed her to 80,000+ people, falsely accusing her as a threat.) This has led to Emily being further harassed and even doxxed. This is why we stand with Emily. She deserves to have her good name cleared. This is a case of online bullying being taken into real life and it is continuing to hurt her. Someone targeted Emily and used Clif to have her publicly humiliated and removed from the front row of the convention room. This could have happened to any of us and without any kind of resolution, many are afraid that this could happen to someone else. We will be tweeting to show our support. Please remember that all tweets should be respectful and polite. We cannot stand up to bullying with bullying. In recent years “True Fan” phenomenon has spread through many aspects of geek culture, from gaming to comics to science fiction – it’s tearing many fandoms and geek subcultures apart at the seams, and making people feel uncomfortable in what should reasonably be welcoming shared spaces.

The concept of a “True Fan” can come in many forms, and which form it takes often depends on what section of geek culture you’re a part of and what circles you associate with. Fans of source material – whether it’s a novel, a comic, or a manga – may feel superior to those who have only seen the movie, TV show, or anime adaptation.  Fans of long-running shows or other types of long-running media may feel that they have a better claim to the story than those who joined in at a later date. Sometimes it’s simply fans feeling like someone is enjoying “their” media for the wrong reason, or that they’re the wrong demographic, because that person doesn’t align with their own concept of what a fan of that specific thing should feel or be.

The harassment of these “not true fans” comes in many forms, whether it’s online bullying, real life exclusion, or the increasingly popular method of “doxxing” individuals.  Doxxing is the practice of taking an online disagreement off the internet and exposing someone’s personal information to the masses, or, in some cases, even harming them in real life.  This is happening with an alarming frequency nowadays – and it needs to stop.

Currently apalled by J2/bros-only fans tweeting Clif saying things like "i'm sorry the mean girls are being mean to you" and "Clif I'm sorry this is happening to YOU I'm not a part of this". WOW CLAP

Do you really believe that because Emily ships Destiel, only Destiel fans could ever be targeted by something like this? Are you so damn positive that you're safe because you're siding with the so called trufans?

YOU TOO could have been kicked out of a convention, doxxed and publicly humiliated, in two easy steps:

1. They printscreen some out of context thing you have said on the internet over the past WEEKS

2. Show it to Clif and tell him you're dangerous

I'm sure that it has been said but THIS IS ABSURD AND STUPID. What happened to Emily opens a precedent. And Clif said that "he did it and would do it again" so for all we know, If you get on the wrong side of Clif's buddies they could get you kicked out of conventions just as easily, FOR NOT AGREEING W/ THEIR OPINIONS ABOUT SPN, or maybe because they hate your face. What happened to Emily NEEDS to be addressed, it has to be discussed. There has to be an apology and we need to know that it will never happen again.

Who are clif and Emily?

Clif is the “bodyguard” (originally a driver) for Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. Emily is a fan and reporter for The Geekiary that he wrongly tried to ban from Supernatural conventions by listening to bad information from his fan buddies. You can read about everything here, here, here, here, and here. This is what happens when bodyguards get chummy with fans. They use him to eliminate people they don’t like.
