i dont think 1/8th counts for anything either but 1/4th is kind of different, if someone is 20-25% of any non-white race you can usually peep it out. like wouldnt you think it was weird if asian people didnt wanna call jhene aiko asian? or kimora's daughters? or chanel iman. they're all only 25% asian but its still a part of their identity. obviously adriana looks mixed but idk to me that doesnt invalidate her blackness. her experience is different but it doesnt change her race.
If she thinks so, okay then. I still consider that “mixed”. Idk I just read Clotel and this is giving me “shes a quadroon, so shes black” realness rn. Adriana obv has a completely different experience of those visibly black, even those who are mixed, cause she is white passing, and is more on the ‘not black” spectrum. I cant compare jhene or kimoras daughters “asian” experience with what runs deep in terms of blackness, those have way different connotations and histories. I just dont believe in the one drop rule.
