In the Invincible verse, the people of Ede all have telekinetic abilities like Evan's, and they all have their own electromagnetic field about them that indicates the strength of their abilities. Sometimes it's enough to mess with someone's perception of them, ( Michael has actually been the cause of many of the "biblically accurate angel" interpretations ) cause electrical disturbances, and kill plant life if they're around it too long. It wasn't a problem on their planet, but Earth and the humans that lived there were negatively affected by it. The tech developer they'd brought as part of their group quickly made a device to help nullify it, so that they wouldn't scare their hosts anymore, or harm the environment.
