people need to love themselves and reAD THE STORIES because most adaptations fall woefully shortin their characterization of holmes and watson (and every other aspect of the books sheesh)

I've read a few over the years when I was a student, and I have an anthology of the tales collected together. I couldn't get into it very much, but even from just that brief surface skimming it's pretty obvious that there's so much more to the character than what any of the adaptations could provide. That's always the way it is with adaptations from text. I don't have much invested in the world or the characters, sure, but... speaking as someone who studied this kinda stuff happily and for educational purposes, it's a bit silly for people to limit their view of the character like that.

Though I think we can ALL agree that the Asylum films version of the Sherlock mythos is hilarious and bad and needs to be seen by all.
