So, today I discovered that right across from the hotel I'm staying in, there are some awesome Roman ruins. Namely the Roman city of Itálica.

Iberia was valuable to the Roman Empire as a source of food, especially of olive oil and grain. This small olive orchard at the archaeological site of Itálica is well placed as it illustrates the one-time economy of the important city in what is now Southern Spain.

Excavation of the ruins of the once important city is ongoing. Much of it is beyond current recovery, however, for it is beneath the buildings of present day Santiponce.
