i am a feminist because being called a girl has somehow morphed into an insult

i am a feminist because half the girls in Yemen will become child brides

i am a feminist because my breasts are only allowed when it’s purely for men’s own enjoyment

i am a feminist because both sexes have issues and that’s not okay.

i am a feminist because being born female means being born weak.

i am a feminist because these words would be taken seriously if they were coming out of a man’s mouth.

i personally label myself as a feminist because of various reasons. 

you can label yourself whatever the fuck you want to label yourself as long as you’re rooting for equality.

Do tumblr feminists realise that guys are sexualised and are expected to live up to unrealistic standards too? And that guys are discriminated against in certain work fields? And that men are raped/abused/sexually assaulted/belittled too? It may not be as obvious but it does happen, so stop thinking that women are the only people who have to overcome anything and start considering the fact that NOT ALL MEN ARE THE SAME, and MANY MEN HAVE BEEN THROUGH AT LEAST ONE OF THE ABOVE.

One of my friends is engaged to someone who refuses to talk about feminism or accept it and I just can't imagine agreeing to spend the rest of my life with someone who denies a large part of who I am.

The fact that some people don’t identify themselves as feminists upsets me The fact that some men feel ‘threatened’ by women simply trying to obtain equality is shameful The fact that some women see feminism as 'pointless’ is saddening Everyone should identify as a feminist, it’s not about being better than men, it’s about equality. Plain and simple. That should be important to everyone, no matter your gender

when will we stop referring to it as “gay marriage” (which on its own suggests an upheaval, a difference) and start only referring to it as what it is: marriage equality
