How Marina got her scar

Location: Ice vault Time: Last semester of the 2nd year

Tw: slight gore, (like a deep cut on a cheek) it's honestly not a lot but rather safe than sorry

The adrenaline pumping trough her veins and the clashing of metal on metal was the only thing Marina could focus on.

As the knight that guarded the ice vault took another step forward, striking with his sword once more, Marina took a jump back, almost losing her feet at the edge of the staircase. Before her mind registered what was going on, she ducked to dodge a horizontal attack from the knight's sword.

Sadly, getting back up straight was more difficult thanks to the thick layer of ice that coated the entire room.

She could vaguely hear her friends, shouting encouragements as she took on the ice knight. If Acacius was able to beat this, then so could she.

She jumped down the few steps in hopes of giving herself a moment to breathe. She was used to running and dodging relentless attacks from someone who wants to harm her, but sword fighting was something entirely new.

She looked behind her, hoping to finally spot her wand that the knight had slapped out of her hands at the start of their battle. It rolled of to somewhere but Marina could not figure out where, and a mere second year couldn't just accio an object they can't even see.

She had considered asking one of her friends to throw their wand, but given the ice they were covered in, it was clear as day that wasn't an option.

An unforseen attack from the knight send her tumbling on the ground, barely able to hold the sword she was holding over her chest as she tried to defend herself.

Unfortunately, the tip of the knight's sword slashed the left side of her face. Marina tried to supress a groan as her whole face felt like it was on fire, faintly registering the blood dripping down her cheek and onto her white cardigan.

She felt her grip falter as she finally noticed it, right up ahead, her wand. All she needed was turn her hand towards it and use accio but if she let even one hand go she knew she'd be done for.

So she did the only thing that she could think of, she allowed the tip of the sword to cut into her cheek even further as she rolled herself to her right side, the knight's sword connecting to the ground.

Instead of wasting time to scramble to her feet, Marina used her momentum and her sword to sweep the legs right out from under the ice knight. That move finally granted her enough time to reach her right hand out towards the wand.

"Accio wand!" She called out, the wand seemingly just as impatient to be reunited with it's owner as she quickly looked at the knight that was starting to get up.

"Bombarda!" She yelled, the spell sending the knight into the wall before it started so melt away, as if the metal itself was ice in the summer sun.

"Marina, are you okay?!" Ben called out to his friend, unable to look at her left cheek, which was bloodied and cut open multiple layers of skin.

"I'm fine," She said, trying to move her mouth as much as possible as she focused on getting her friends out of the ice. After checking out the contents of the ice vault, she'd have enough time to let Madam Pomfrey tend to her.
