So I went out this morning to grab Bob out of the paddock and see if he was alright to ride. He trotted up okay and he was tracking up in the walk, though still a bit tight in his HQ at the trot, but that's pretty normal for him. I figure I'd hop on and take it easy to see how he was feeling. Actually not too bad which was surprising. We just did W/T today since I wasn't sure how he would be feeling, but I rode for just on an hour all up. I spent a lot of time at the walk at the beginning reminding him how to move his front, middle and back independently because apparently he had forgotten that. We always have more trouble with the shoulder in than haunches in for some reason, but he got some okay ones. I really just wanted to focus on getting his brain working as much as his body. Then we did the same things in the trot and it was a bit scrappy but he made an effort and we had some nice moments in the trot so I called it quits there. I also rode in my spurs for the first time in like ... Literally years, because he's getting really slack about responding to my aids and I wanted to get a bit more snap in his responses. He was super annoyed at first, and there was a fair bit of ear pinning and tail swishing and teeth gnashing but eventually he got over it and moved on with life. All up I'm super happy with him today! Meanwhile, as you can tell from the selfie, he is so done with my shit.
