idk man. i see so much shit about how the treatment of mages in dragon age is either irrelevant or "not that bad" or just a way for people to cosplay oppression or whatever and like. im actually really sick of it?
there are undoubtedly fans who think saying shit like "mage rights" constitutes activism, but that doesn't mean any criticism of what happens to mages in canon can automatically be written off as bad faith. and just because the devs didn't intend for something to be interpreted in a specific way, or didn't write something as an direct real world parallel, doesn't mean those parallels aren't there? being "imagined by fans" doesn't make it less real?
and I'm getting more and more tired of saying things like "the circles remind me of concentration camps" and "phylacteries remind me of big yellow stars" and "the way the chantry talks about mages being dangerous and how blood mages could be secretly controlling everything definitely reminds me of the new world order conspiracy" only to be be repeatedly ignored or belittled. I'm not saying this stuff for fun or to be edgy, and being mocked behind my back doesn't make my feelings or interpretations any less valid.
I don't care if your opinion is in direct opposition to mine. I'm not saying you have to adopt my point of view. I just wish people gave enough of a fuck about jews and jewish perspectives to accept them as an equally valid point of view to hold, rather than just handwave it away and attribute it to "fandom bullshit".
