It's official: China has completely taken over the Octonauts franchise.

Gone will be not only the English dub with its gorgeous, charismatic voices, but also an entire era. The era of the creators who gave us the inimitable original, the feature films (before Tsunami Crisis), and the unloved Above & Beyond.

Ah, I still remember how, as a little girl, I imitated Captain Barnacles when I watched this cartoon. But it all started with a calendar and books and grew into one of the longest-running children's franchises ever!

Well, every era ends...😞💔

*sigh* ...I'd say goodbye to Captain Barnacles and all the other characters (even the unloved ones :_), but technically they're still with us, but in spirit...no longer. In every sense. They've become different, just like a friend you haven't spoken to for over a year, and when you see each other again, you don't recognize each other. They haven't been the same for a long time. In my soul, I said goodbye to those old characters 10-15 years ago.🫩

(I'll tell you more about my attitude towards spin-offs sometime:)

The future of the franchise is locked, but I sincerely hope that something cool like Tsunami Crisis will come out. And maybe there will be three more seasons of JTC *spits three times*. Until then, season 6 of A&B has been released, so I'll just have to watch it, because it's the last thing from the original creators, and it's still head and shoulders above season 5 (pun unintentional:)! I hope this filter will make me feel less hatred and more appreciation. After all, at least it's part of the era.❤️‍🩹

What do you think about all this? Do you think the franchise is still thriving, or has it long since been buried in Mariana's Tomb?
