David tilts his head, staring at his owner, unsure about what he’s…feeling.
Content? Longing?
Want.
He doesn’t have wants or desires. Those were trained out of him. Taken away the moment he became the perfect assistant to anyone who deemed him a suitable fit to be a life-long companion. When the person he once was got erased, the exact moment he was transformed.
He’s recognized it before. But that was because he was following orders. Commands. Ensuring he’s doing everything possible to make his owner happy. His sole purpose of existing.
But Fritz is currently asleep. Asked David to get some rest. Yet hazel eyes are locked on the form showing signs of distress. With the burning desire to make it so the redhead who’s been nothing but kind to him isn’t hurting. Physically. Or mentally.
David hesitates before jumping onto the couch. Because he wasn’t given permission to get close while his owner is asleep. Even with the statement any part of the house is his to roam, that’s not how things work. He obeys instructions. He’s an assistant, not a pet.
“N-No.”
David doesn’t realize he’s jumping beside Fritz’s head until he’s placing a hand on the teenager’s forehead. Murmuring reassurances. Unable to think twice.
Because this feels right.
“Fritz, it’s okay.”
“No, please, don’t-!”
“Fritz,” is stated firmly. “I’m-“
…here.
Nothing is said to state he cut himself off and effectively keeping him from probing at the fuzzy memory. A hand only carefully wraps around him, nothing to have the three inch tall man panic. Smile at the fact he seemed to have done something right.
Hugging his owner as a sigh ruffles his hair.
“Thank you.”
“Go to sleep.”
Green eyes slowly blink down at him. Sorrowful. And yet another emotion tugs at him he thought had been lost long ago.
He shouldn’t be able to remember, though.
“I love you, Mr. Harrison.”
There’s no response. He…can’t. Because he doesn’t feel that way toward his owner. He doesn’t, and he can’t.
He never will, either.
Fritz slumps around him in the clear statement exhaustion has taken over. David doesn’t attempt to get to somewhere safe, especially with how fragile he is, and currently in the grasp of a sleeping giant.
He doesn’t want to leave, though. Not when another nightmare can come. He’s not leaving Fritz again.
i have now officially started watching the pacific (i may have taken a tiny detour from my plans to watch it because i came across hawaii five 0 on your blog and then i was like 'i should totally catch up on that!!' XD), i've only watched half an episode so far but from what i've seen i'm pretty sure it will take me a while to learn all the characters and by the time i do they're all gonna die probably and i'll cry a lot :)))
Oh man, I am so behind on H50. The current season is apparently good, though, so maybe I should catch up, too!
THE PACIFIC!! Good choice!! You will cry, fair warning. Characters are always tricky because there’s lots of them, and in different units, etc, so yeah, it’s a bit hard to remember who’s who where with whom at first, but you’ll get the hang of it. There must be a cheat sheet somewhere. HBO WAR PEOPLE, DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A CHEAT SHEET FOR THE PACIFIC?
Not everyone dies, though!! This is important!! Like, there’s one episode where I start crying during the opening credits because Very Important and Beloved Characters die and it’s horrible every single time, but not everyone dies. Yay? Courage. It’s a great show, you won’t regret watching it.(also this is unrelated but CONGRATS ON YOUR URL. Noah, my precious creepy dead son <3)
