Chapter 1: A Man and a Fox

The wind blew lightly within the forest. Encased in the lush green scenery was a lonely shrine, standing tall and proud, yet hidden amongst the leaves. Within one of the rooms, a man kneeled, around his head was tied a fox mask. His face was serious, his brows furrowed. He gently spread a red face paint over his eyelids, creating crimson streaks around them. The man then took the mask in one hand and covered his face with it, hiding it from the world. He stood up and left the room, walking down the shrine’s outer corridor.

He walked around the shrine until he found the main entrance. There were foxes present doing their morning rounds of sweeping and cleaning around the shrine. The man walked through the main entrance, his footsteps soft over the wood flooring. He kneeled before the rice paper doors.

“Do I have permission to enter, princess?”

From the other side of the sliding door came a yawn. “Yeah,” the feminine voice replied lazily. The man opened the door, revealing the kitsune princess.

Suddenly, the man’s demeanor changed completely, taking a more playful tone. “Up late again, princess~?”

The woman threw a pillow at him, which he easily caught in one hand. “Don’t judge me for being a night owl,” she retorted with a pout.

The man chuckled in response, tossing the pillow back to her. “And where are you headed today?”

The woman, still sleepy, looked thoughtfully outside. “I dunno. Maybe to the lake.”

“Whatever the princess asks, she shall receive~”

“I told you, Itazura, call me Kagura,” she said.

“You wouldn’t want your brother to throw a fit, would you? I know I certainly wouldn’t~”

“UGH,” she groaned, falling back into her bed. “He’d throw a fit if he saw you here right now and you’re not bothered by it.”

“I have an excuse~”

“Oh yeah? What’s that?”

Under the mask, Itazura grinned. “I am your bodyguard~”

Kagura’s eyes narrowed. “I don’t like how smug you sound.”

“Get used to it~”

She threw the pillow at him again, and he caught it once more. “Get out, I have to change.”

“Of course,” he replied, closing the sliding door.

After a few minutes, Kagura came back out. She was more appropriately dressed this time, and she found Itazura kneeling outside the door, facing the courtyard. Kagura poked him in the back of the head.

“Is Itazura still in there?” She asked playfully. He turned to her.

“I’m wherever you wish for me to be~”

Kagura’s gaze saddened slightly, but her tone stayed playful. “Where should we go?”

“You said you wanted to visit the lake, yes?”

“Well, yeah. The cherry blossoms are blooming there.”

“Then to the lake we’ll go~” He stood up, waiting for her to lead the way. She did so, and to the lake they went.

SO do you guys remember this picture I made a year ago???

WELL i decided i wanna try and work on it again, but im just redoing the whole thing bc i learned symmetry tools exist and also im in a new era of being artistic >:3c

SO this is what I have so far (it’s not much but ribcages are a bitch and also my stylus died *sad face*)

and yes I know i need to fix the actual ribcage sizing and what not but for now i just need it to be sketched LOL

but yes I am very excited to try and make this one work again!!!

possible print i might sell too bc i assume if sissy is excited there must be others who are too LOL
