Today, 30th of September is the International Translation Day! I Still remember the first day of freshman year as a translation student. I remember when I graduated from high school, I DID NOT even think about Translation as one of the options to study and majored in but here I am, in my last year of college and totally in love with what I am doing. What I find most interesting about translation is the fact that it gives you an opportunity to leave your own mark on the text. No matter what you translate and from which language, your translation is always unique.

I have a lot to say about Translation, but let's leave it like this for now.Happy International Translation Day for all translators and interpreters around the world!

I don’t beat around the bush anymore. I used to try to very subtly imply that Shakra isn’t the best person. Now I’ve basically called her crazy in the opening paragraph of Chapter the First. After pretty much confirming her as evil in the Prelude.

This is better. This is much better.

Stylistic changes: the title font now matches the font I’m going to get my next tattoo in. Because In the Dark is the madness I want to give into before I die. That’s a bit off topic really. I’m also monkeying with some chapter titles. Some.

Ok, I finished the Prelude. I was reading it outloud, I have no idea what my flatmates must think? But Annie gets me to do a lot of dramatic readings, so I’m sure they’re not too lost.

It’s good. It’s better, I like it, I think it says more now. I didn’t change too much on the last page, because I’ve always been content with that. They were one mind, one body, one darkness. One death. I love that line so much. I was probably a bit harsher on Shakra and a little clearer on the Howling, which I don’t think is a bad thing? I know when my parents read it, they had to have me explain things to them; that was a couple drafts back, but still, it all makes sense in my head, having it make sense on the page is a bit harder.

On to Chapter the First!

When in doubt, toss in classical allusion or two. On a side note, revamping the prelude is the most I’ve ever cared about the Howling. They’re way more interesting this time around!

Fucking name drops the title of the last book in the prelude of the first because WHY THE HELL NOT it wasn’t like I didn’t have enough foreshadowing already!!

Can I just say that trying to write from the third person plural perspective of the souls of the damned beyond redemption who think in an animalistic hive mind and experiencing emotions for the first time is freaking hard and man, yes, the Prelude did need work, it was way too much of saying the same thing in fancier and fancier ways but god damn, I deserve credit for even trying to write it, let alone actually making it work in context!

So as I was not shortlisted for that competition, I thought I might give In the Dark a slight revamp (pun definitely intended) again, and this may end up in me liveblogging it. In fact, it is going to be me liveblogging it. Y’all shouldn’t have followed me if you didn’t want me to talk about ItD.
