146. Every year, I send Gishers to visit my grandmother at Roland Park Place retirement home in Baltimore, Maryland, and this year is no different. Visit her retirement community (or any nursing home or community near you) and help the residents escape—metaphorically, of course. Take them on a tropical getaway by staging an impromptu beach party! Between the hours of 1 PM ET—3 PM ET on Monday, July 29 and Wed July 31 only, bring flower leis, small flowers, pre-packaged treats (nothing homemade), postcards with kind notes on them and/or a ukulele or guitar to sing with them. Ask them to reminisce about the happiest summer vacation they ever took. (PS: No bathing suits and leave the sand home, please. Hawaiian shirts are fine.)

Last year, we snubbed Sweden in our location-based items, causing a gisher to write in to complain. We will not exclude Sweden this year! Apparently, spontaneous dancing is illegal in Sweden. Dance your heart out to Abba’s Dancing Queen in a public space in Sweden. If you run into trouble with the police, tell them, “it’s not spontaneous, it’s premeditated.”

Did not know what “quilling” is when I picked the item. Now I very much know. – Tiia 

 146. [VIDEO] Using the art of quilling, make an elaborate, massive, quilled quill pen. Use it to write “We create, therefore we live.” in calligraphy.

This bad boy was 108 feet tall, and cut into my parent’s backyard. Dad’s tractor is broken, and he hasn’t been able to cut the grass for a couple weeks, so I tossed my push mower in the truck and got to work. Of course, this also means that this sock monkey will be staying in their lawn until their mower is repaired- good thing there’s no HOA for them to worry about! -Kaela

146.  You can see a lot of bizarre things on Google Earth, but you can’t see the giant sock monkey “crop circle” just cropped up in your town (or the tall grass in your backyard.) But it’s there—you have proof. The larger, the more points.
