Welcome to Team Scrumtrulescent’s Tumblr!

If you’re looking for our items from the 2020 hunt, you’ve come to the right place! If you’d like to view only our item submissions from this year, you can find them all here.

Our team also does something we like to call Behind The Gish. Many of us take pictures and videos throughout the week as we work on our items. We save them up and then post them here, often with stories and explanations written by the team member who completed the item. They’re a glimpse at a bit of the behind scenes craziness that goes on in the completion of these items, and you can see them all in the ‘BehindTheGish’ tag.

58. (TEAM GRID ITEM) Some people have politicized the wearing of masks as a violation of freedom. Create a stealth mask that people can wear around anti-maskers without stirring controversy: paint a photo-realistic face of YOUR face on a mask so casual observers won’t know that you’re actually a thoughtful citizen. Take a photo of each member of your team wearing their own not-a-mask mask and submit a grid image. You should all be recognizable wearing masks that look like yourselves. (TO BE CLEAR: Nobody is to share masks. That’s just gross and dangerous! Each team member should wear their own mask that looks like their own face and model it.)

I loved this item and had so much fun with it!  However, the dress didn't like me so much--I ended up having an allergic reaction to the cedar branches I used for the skirt!  Thankfully it wasn't too awful, and I love how the photo turned out, so...worth it! -Danalynn

251. Camp GISH is hosting a formal party, and you forgot to pack — but you’re nothing if not resourceful. Create a fashionable, rustic evening or cocktail dress or tuxedo all out of materials you’d find in the woods (foliage, pine needles, and pine cones, sticks… you get the idea). and model it in a “campground” or wilderness setting. (If you’re in a place that is in lockdown and you absolutely cannot go outside by law, you may instead fashion your attire out of the detritus of quarantine life: cardboard boxes. But we want to see the campground couture, so ONLY do this if you legally or safely cannot go out, and please note that fact in your comments.)
