Why the hell was he back in this shithole of a city? Mainly because he felt like sharing some of the holiday with his former neighbors. Well, sort of? He didn’t know these people. Sure, he was breaking the vow he made that he’d never be in the same state as his parents ever again, but who knows, maybe they moved without him around to tie them down.
That’d be a blessing. Either way, here he is, in an apartment building in New York, and he brings up a set of knuckles to lazily knock on the door, before he sticks his hand back in the pocket of his leather jacket, the other coming up to straighten the scarf tucked between it and his shirt. In a pocket of his cargos, there’s a small card tied to a bag of goodies, the last one he wanted to deliver today.
It was a little nostalgic. NYC was just as awful and smoggy as he remembered it being. So used he was to the much cleaner air of Eveny that America’s air tasted nasty to him, now. He’d worry about his lungs later.

“No reason.”
CHRYSALIS: Describe your best friend, EPHEMERAL: What would you do if you could live one day without consequences?, EMU: Can you do a handstand?, HILLS: Can you roll your tongue?, LAVENDER: Tell us a story from when you were young!, NECTAR: What is your favourite sweet food?, PENGUIN: Have you ever proposed/been proposed to?, VINE: How tall are you?, XEME: What is the silliest noise you can make?

“I did. Definitely did.”
Alex left a small box in Kavita's work area. Inside, there was a necklace with a charm that looked like a carbon atom, much like the tie pin she had given James. A matching set for the only real pair in her science family. There was also a note in the ribbon of the box, that simply said "Happy Mother's Day, Dr. Rao!" in careful but ultimately messy cursive.
Kavita smiled, though she’d previously been unaware that Alex saw her in any maternal way. She wasn’t really sure how to feel about it.
