The Patrick Twins were adopted from a Ukranian orphanage when they were just weeks old by Abram and Marie Patrick. Marie was unable to have children due to a hysterectomy at age 17 after she was diagnosed with Endometrial cancer. She was cured, and has not relapsed. They named the two children.

They are both artistic, Sacha enjoying sculpture while Itka prefers to paint. They are close, and always have been, although they are evidently fraternal twins. They have no interest in finding their birth-parents, especially as they are half a world away. They always knew they were adopted (for starters, Marie is a fourth-gen immigrant from China) but don't really care about it. 

Itka is definitely the more emotional of the two. By comparison, Sacha is quite quiet and reserved; Itka is far more likely to do the talking for the pair of them when they're together.
