I, Too, Arts Collective: restoring & reclaiming the home of Langston Hughes
I, Too, Arts Collective is 10 days into our fundraising campaign. We’re so thankful for the support and generosity that’s been shown over the past two weeks. We wanted to shout out two supporters Karla Robinson and Dr. Ralleigh for their donation and encourage everyone to keep giving and spreading the word. We also want to share some “behind the scenes” moments with you. Yesterday we filmed our promotional video on the stoop of Langston’s brownstone. Poets, artists, educators, and community members came out to read poems and talk about why reclaiming this space is important. Stay tuned for the video & in the meantime, enjoy these clips and photos.

Harlem
by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
