but... in real life, people may not spend all their time thinking about loki, but they do love him. my father talks a lot more about loki than he does about thor, even though he thinks he's luciferic and beyond redemption, he's very interested in him. and my best friend, who thinks loki is evil and insane and fuck-UGLY, actually reacted worse than me when she found out he wasn't in avengers 2 and she doesn't even like comicbook/action movies. he really does win people over and idk why...
yes anon, you’re absolutely right :) people do love loki as a character but i’d say that there are different kinds of “love”. some people appreciate the way he’s written, and how tom hiddleston played him (i think tom is the main reason why everyone loves loki so much. because let’s be honest, tom has this something which makes you like him immediately and maybe it’s visible in his roles as well. the second thing is, that he’s simply an attractive - for most people of course - white male. i’m pretty sure if loki would’ve been portrayed by an ugly actor he wouldn’t get as much love as he does now. maybe i’m wrong idk) and the other kind of “love” i was talking about was obsessing over him, justifying his actions, saying that he’s misunderstood all the time. i know you’re probably thinking i’m exaggerating but honestly, i’m not. just scroll for a moment through his tag on tumblr. hell, i’ve been this kind of a fan for quite a long time, so i can easly say this from my own experience.
loki is a loveable character, he’s very interesting, but mostly because of the dynamics between him and other characters. what would a loki movie be about, anyways? you know, i’d be more interested in a prequel to thor tbh, if we’d really had to have another movie. but still, it would have had both of them involved, thor and loki, and the relationship they had before the shit went down. i completely understand why tom isn’t down with the idea of making another movie with marvel - let’s look at the whole concept from his point of view - he’d be tied with the company for another few years and we all know that he’s basically unable to play other roles when he’s playing loki. he’s one of the actors who want to stay in theather despite being quite popular in the movie industry, and i think we should let him do his thing and appreciate the loki he presented to us already. we all love tom, we all love loki, one way or another, but we should know when to say stop.
