TW: death, mentions of death, a higher entity (God-like)

When they say the dead "walk into the light", it's not exactly true. You don't go to the light. You become the light.
And that's what Ben did.
The last thing he experienced was a hug — something he was eternally grateful for. Someone had clearly been listening to his prayers. It was the one thing he'd wanted most since dying. Yes, he hugged Diego but that wasn't his body. It didn't feel .. right. It wasn't him.
He didn't know what to expect; despite Klaus telling him exactly what had happened to him when he died. Ben might have waited for a cowboy on a horse or a little girl on a bike; so when Jeff Goldblum materialized into the dull grey world around him, things got weird.
"Benjamin Hargreeves." Jeff sounded melancholic, as if He was sad to see him.
"That's me," Ben tugged on his sleeves anxiously. "Are you .. you know ..? God?"
"I am whoever you want me to be," He responded, the corners of His lips twitching up.
Ben couldn't help but chuckle, his smile quickly fading. "My siblings: are they okay? Did we do it? Did we stop the Apocalypse?" His eyebrows furrowed, rapid firing questions at 90 miles a minute.
Jeff Goldblum regarded the boy, a strange — almost proud — glint in His eyes. He chuckled. "You did. The Apocalypse is averted and your siblings have found a way back to your time."
The not-so-teenager let out the breath he didn't know he was holding. "Thank goodness."
"Are you ready?"
"Ready?" Ben cocked his head, his nose scrunching. "What am I getting ready for?" He thought this was Heaven.
Jeff Goldblum smiled and out stretched a hand. "To go home."
Ben hesitated, thinking of his siblings. He'd been next to Klaus for so long, he wasn't quite sure what the two would do seperated. But he knew. They weren't just kids-who-grew-up-together anymore; they were family. A real one. And families take care of each other.
I’m listening a hour of heather by Conan Gray and I’m thinking in so much things that could make me cry in another moment but right now I want to write them all and make other people cry with me ;;;;
i am talking abt my philosophy again bc it’s That Kinda Night
i believe that nothing you do matters, specifically, nothing you do has any real effect outside of day-to-day life. no The Good Place judgements. just things you do.
and i think that’s why everything matters so much. because if nothing truly matters, how you act is defined even more so by your moral compass. doing good deeds for the sake of an extistential reward is fine, but doing good deeds for no reason at all is just if not more valid. having no reason to do things is the best reason to do things.
ex. the cart in the parking lot. what do you do with an empty shopping cart in the parking lot? you won’t get into trouble if you leave it wherever, but you’re also making someone’s job a lot harder. you don’t get a reward for putting the cart back, but you can. i think it’s a good judge of character on whether or not you put the shopping cart back. it doesn’t matter...but really? it does.
