Unpopular Opinion

So, I took a Women’s Studies class this semester and learned a lot about “gender norms” trans people, the LGBTQ community, feminism, etc. Now, while I agree that society does put a lot of pressure on men and women to “be a certain way” or else they are considered abnormal, what about the people that don't necessarily mind “conforming”? What if they don't see it as conforming or rather just being themselves? I, for one, love dresses, makeup, sandals, bows, and the color pink, and I see nothing wrong with me liking those things. But I have gotten criticized for it.  But at the same time, I am not always feminine. There’s nothing wrong with this. 

I thought Tumblr was a safe place, but now Im seeing a lot of heterosexual bashing and cisgender hate, calling us ignorant, stupid, and dumb bitches. Why is that necessary? I don't have to think like you. I don't have to agree with you. Doesn't everyone get mad at Christians for “shoving religion in people’s faces”? Well, did you ever consider you might be doing the same exact thing by calling me a dumb bitch because I don't see anything wrong with giving a little girl a pink birthday cake or making her wear a big pink bow? Not saying my future daughter will be limited to only wearing pink, but what if she fucking likes it? And if she doesn't, that’s a-okay with me. 

This post in no way shape or form is meant to bash the LGBTQ community or feminists at all. II’m specifically speaking to those that I have seen on Tumblr spewing hate because someone is “conforming to a gender norm”, doesn't quite fully understand something, or doesn't agree with them. The people that think the way to fight for equality is to insult and belittle. So maybe everyone should stop bashing heteros and cisgender people. Stop making people feel like shit for being the way they are. I thought a big part of feminism was an intersectional approach, one where everyone was included and where equality was fought for every. So why spoil that by spewing any type of hate? People are set in their ways, and don't make them try to change the way they are. We should all be ourselves and let everyone live there lives how they want. No judgement, no calling anyone stupid. Nothing like that. Leave it alone. Spread love not hate. Not everything is a malicious attack. And as a black woman I had to realize that some people are racist but not everyone and I should not walk around thinking every White/Caucasian/ person hates me. (which is something else that pisses me off on here but I’m not even gonna get into that right now). People have different lifestyles. Accept it and move on. 

P.s. If anyone actually reads this and responds, the first thing you might say is “damn this bitch lives in a bubble and is ignorant”. No, I’m not. I was raised in a bubble but then had a bisexual roommate who is now my best friend who I am currently living with for the summer (who is also atheist and Im a christian), many lesbian friends, three trans friends, bicurious friends, asexual friends etc. I love them all equally and I see them as PEOPLE, not their label. We have treated each other over the years with the utmost respect despite our differences. I am also very educated on the subject matters of feminism and the LGBTQ community because I had a kick ass professor this semester that broke all this shit down and dropped some knowledge on us.
