Three commonly misused homonyms, and how to remember them.

Then and Than - thEn tells timE - thAn compAres

Who and Whom - WHO did?  HE did. - For WHOM is this present?  This present is for HIM.

Its and It’s  - Its is possessive.  Don’t touch its bone, it might get mad. - It’s (it is) a contraction.  It’s okay, I’ve touched it before. 

Got a word you don’t know how to use?  Ask!  English is a notoriously difficult language, even for native speakers.  Even I sometimes have trouble with it, and I’m a linguist with a degree in English!!  That said, I know some tricks to remembering some of the weirder aspect of the language, and if I don’t know something, I have a few reliable sources for finding out! :D

The creature attempted to talk, gasping several times and gurgling unknown sounds that slowly started to form real words. It dragged itself closer to Joy, reaching a long hand out to touch the presence's white hair, leaving a dark shadowy stain. "I...." It choked out, gasping and moving in closer, "Jusssst... yeess.. I..." Its long fingers grew even more and its neck grew longer, the mutilated face moving in close to Joy's ear and breathing harshly.
