A Meeting

"I know you're there, I can feel you."

Artemis stopped dead in her tracks caught feeling like a kuaka in the headlights. The Nyx protoframe woman, as Artemis had learned earlier to be Eleanor, had sensed her astral projection.

"It's okay. I won't tell the others," Eleanor reassured her.

Artemis found herself - well, her spirit or whatever void damned magic sent her back in time to 1999 after she fell asleep at her worktable. She made the best of the situation and walked around the Mall, taking in the unfamiliar architecture of a civilization long gone and finding the inhabitants. A man named Arthur, and his crew.

A Trinity, a Mag, a Volt, some weird never before seen Warframe type and finally, just as she thought she had seen them all, she had poked her head into a furniture store where a woman just a bit older than her was resting.

She was a beautiful woman with sharp features, dark hair with strands of white, eyes glowing inhuman purple and was tall, her whole frame stretched languidly on the sofa. Artemis recognised her frame type, a non prime Nyx.

Back to the situation at hand, Artemis knew she couldn't be heard physically, so the Nyx was using telepathy to talk to her. She wasn't even sure she could answer back, instead she sat down on one of the armchairs nearby.

"I thought there was going to be the two of you. Where's the other one?

Artemis almost wanted to laugh. Not only could this Nyx woman - Eleanor, as one of the others had called her, had somehow known there were two of them.

Despite the last year or so getting used to sharing the time in the Origin system, Artemis had never felt right in their "current" timeline. Too many centuries had passed, her old home on Earth was gone, the Empire in which she grew up was gone (not that it was a bad thing), it was changed. She felt like she did now, astral, untethered and adrift.

Artemis spent a few more minutes listening to Eleanor ramble in her mind, just enjoying her company. Something about the woman made her feel comfortable, at ease. Soon she began to feel the pull of the Void, and started to feel tired.

The last thing she saw was Eleanor's bright purple eyes, and a last thought of "I wonder if I'll see her again" before she woke up to Ordis trying to wake her up before her neck ached something terrible. He was worried for her poor sleeping habits, she brushed him off with a silly grin and a laugh promising she'll stop working so late that she falls asleep at the table again.

But Artemis couldn't forget Eleanor.

It would be months later before they finally met after her brother stabbed her in the hands and practically threatened violence.

Bright purple meets void touched blue.

The woman from her dreams.
