Reaching Out || Amairah & Ian
For probably the twentieth time in that one hour, Amairah wandered if she was doing the right thing. Since making her decision she had been plagued with second thoughts and insecurities. Whispering away in her head like the brush of a seaweed against her tail. Clutching the piece of paper in her hand, the sound of crinkling paper filling the air, Amairah inhaled deeply, holding her breath and closing her eyes as she did, her mind floating to more calm and soothing thoughts.
The scent of new music sheets for instance. The feel of the cold sea water against her skin, smooth as silk. Her little brother smiling up at her. The last thought had the corner of her lips pulling upwards, before her eyes shot open and she glanced at her watch. She still had an hour before she had to pick Dimitri from his football practice. And she was doing this for him. If she were going to take care of him, it meant being in the best condition she could be, given her parent’s recent death.
Murder.
The word rang in her mind but she quickly shoved it away, reaching out to ring the doorbell before images of her parent’s body’s took over her mind and she completely lost it. The memories did surface, however she didn’t collapse to the floor. Her body did straighten and she held herself up more firmly, as if trying to reassure herself that she was fine.
