I think the Sheriff already knows and just didn't share it with the teens? On the scene with Archie he said he talked with Pop, so probably he asked about how much money and got the same answer. And it's understandable that he wouldn't tell Archie and Jug about that.

Probably. Hopefully that’s what happened because when Jug asked how much cash he grabbed, the sheriff said they were still waiting to hear about it from Pop. But yeah, it makes sense that he wouldn’t tell them.

Betty answering the phone in 2x04 to hear the Black Hood on the other line. Mostly because it was a cliffhanger, but also because there’s something so creepy about a killer being able to reach you whenever he wants.
