its so interesting to me that how a playstyle comes across aesthetically affects how good a tennis player is perceived to be so heavily.

like, its such a subjective metric, but the actual scoreboard (+stats like ranking, titles, etc) does not leave much room for subjectivity. There is no judging panel, unless you count the audience, but the crowd does not determine a winner…
