I've thought about this a lot. It's said that people are defined by the choices they make. Their decisions reflect who they are. I disagree. I believe a person is defined by the way they are. I look at decisions as the material things. We're always throwing around "it's not the material things, it's the intangible pieces that matter." Same goes for people. What you do is not who you are. Supposing there is a Heaven and Hell, what defines who goes where? A person could make a thousand "wrong" choices in their lives, but make a million "right" ones. This next part I say with the utmost respect and love. Please don't interpret it in any negative way. That is not my aim. A girl in my town passed away recently. She loved to party, and everyone knew it. Now according to religion, this is a sin. These were bad choices she made. Because of this, she should be in Hell. However, there is NO doubt in my mind that this amazing girl is in Heaven right now. I say this because of the person she was. She was a genuinely beautiful person, and I don't just mean her outward appearance. She has a beautiful soul. So by all of this, I question how people are defined. Anyone can take a look at someone and say "Wow look at that man. You can just tell he is not a good person. He looks like he's strung out or something." For all you know he could be the most generous human on earth. Someone's choices should not be the deciding factor of the type of person they are.
