You're Allowed to Be Bad at Things You Care About
you're allowed to:
be bad at things you care about
suck at something and keep showing up anyway
stay in the messy middle for as long as it takes
be publicly mediocre while you learn
try something new and be terrible at it
ask basic questions that feel stupid
not be a natural at things that matter to you
take longer than other people
struggle with things that seem easy for everyone else
quit being a beginner when it stops serving you
or never get good at all and still love doing it
the difference between people who "make it" and people who don't isn't talent. it's willingness to be visibly bad at something for longer than is comfortable.
everyone you admire was also terrible at first. they just didn't quit when it was ugly.
beginner energy isn't something to hide. it's proof you're brave enough to try something you're not guaranteed to be good at.
what are you avoiding because you're not good at it yet? what would you start if being bad at it wasn't embarrassing?
