ITunes Showing Exclamation Marks On All Songs
This is caused by the iTunes library being changed. To fix it, hold Shift (Option on Mac) then click on Start>All Files/Programs>ITunes>ITunes. (You have to hold Shift/Option down before clicking on Start or it won’t work). After iTunes opens it should display a window asking if you would like to createa new library or choose one. Select Choose Library then find the correct iTunes Library file which should have an .itl extension (How to see file extensions). Mine was located in C:\Users\Username\My Music. It could also be in My Music\iTunes Media or Music\iTunes Music. You may need to search for it with Windows Explorer.
I hope this helps others like me who had thousands of songs with exclamation marks, and the only thing you can find online is to manually find each song, or do some other over-complicated “fix” that doesn’t work. Or if you contact Apple they give you the old tech support run-around of update iTunes, restart your PC , stand on your head, etc.
P.S. I don’t use iTunes and personally hate it, but I had to fix this on another PC and thought I’d share it with you.
