UPDATE: At 10:20 p.m., IUPD tweeted that a suspect has been detained and it has been determined there is no threat to the Bloomington campus

When will all this gun violence end??

IU was my college. And Bloomington is a special place for me.

I can't imagine how scared the students and faculty were. And I'm so relieved that no one was hurt. Thank the gods for that!

Wayne James named IUPD-Northwest chief

Indiana University Northwest Chancellor William J. Lowe and Interim Superintendent of Public Safety Bob True have announced the appointment of Lt. Wayne James as Chief of the Indiana University Police Department (IUPD) at IU Northwest.

“An active shooter or hostile intruder is one of the many hazards you are likely to face in your lifetime (including fire, tornado, etc.), so if you don’t know what to do, then you should learn. Once you learn it, you can remember it in the same manner as ‘Stop, Drop, and Roll.’ We don’t teach ‘Stop, Drop, and Roll’ because you’re likely to catch on fire at some point in your life. We teach it because on the off chance that you do, it could save your life. Same with “Run. Hide. Fight.”
