IUPD regularly works with other local agencies such a IU Health Ambulance Service, Bloomington Fire Department, and other local law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of the IU community. #IUPD #police #iu #IUBloomington @bmarieb17
PTOs regularly discuss their cases with fellow officers and explain to Cadets how to handle various incidents. #iupd #police #iu #IUBloomington @bmarieb17
Hey everyone, it's time for the walk-along with IUPD's Part-Time Officers (PTOs) and Cadets! To start every shift officers sit in Roll Call, to receive updates on special events, security hazards, and any other important information. #iupd #police #IUBloomington #IU @bmarieb17
PTO Prendergast answers Cadet Loy's and Cadet Wricker's questions about what it takes to go through the IU Police Academy. PTO Prendergast suggests learning to go to bed early, enjoying your weekends, and maintaining "balance, the academy is your life for three months." #IUPD #police #iu #IUBloomington @bmarieb17

Here, James and his officers were helping out a campus neighbor.
I look forward to continuing to serve the campus and the City of Gary, as well as collaborating with local agencies to provide a safe and secure learning environment. My fellow officers and I remain committed to making IU Northwest the safest campus in Indiana.

#Repost @iukokomo with @repostapp ・・・ Our campus is deeply saddened by the loss of Deputy Carl Koontz, who earned a degree in business on our campus in 2011. We offer our condolences and best wishes to his family, as well as the family of Sergeant Jordan Buckley. #myiuk
Post your #IUShelterSelfie after the Operation Stormy Weather tornado drill on Tuesday. Scroll back through our account to see the great pics we got last year. @IUPUI @IUBloomington @IUPUC @IUSoutheast @IUKokomo @IUEast @IUNorthwest @IUSouthBend
“An active shooter or hostile intruder is one of the many hazards you are likely to face in your lifetime (including fire, tornado, etc.), so if you don’t know what to do, then you should learn. Once you learn it, you can remember it in the same manner as ‘Stop, Drop, and Roll.’ We don’t teach ‘Stop, Drop, and Roll’ because you’re likely to catch on fire at some point in your life. We teach it because on the off chance that you do, it could save your life. Same with “Run. Hide. Fight.”

If this photo is indeed a recent one and not from one of Hugh Jackman’s previous bouts of skin cancer, it will reportedly be the fifth time the actor has gone under the knife for skin cancer. More about basal cell carcinoma and how to prevent them.

It’s a wrap! Graphic design interns Cheryl Wellum and Tiffany Ignalaga designed this truck wrap for Indiana University Environmental Health and Safety. It almost looks like camo.
Good advice from Public Safety and Institutional Assurance at IU.

Watch: Helen Mirren is starring in an anti-drunk driving Super Bowl ad from a pretty unlikely source.
Four amazing IUPD officers at IUPUI
Here are just a few of the heroic individuals who help keep our campus safe:
1. Sgt. Thomas Remender
Sergeant Remender has been in law enforcement for 26 years, serving as an IUPD officer for eight years.
He became a police officer because of his love for helping people.
“I’m a very people-oriented person,” Remender said.
“Somehow we’ve gotten away from really appreciating our police because they are seen as ‘bad apples’, but there are bad apples in every industry. When you actually pull the facts, you’ll see that police officers have a better ethical rate than clergy do and that’s pretty interesting.”
Favorite TV show: Monday Night Football
Favorite restaurant: Bravo’s
2. Officer Eric Lyons
Officer Lyons has been with IUPD for 20 years.
As a kid, Officer Lyons credits the ‘Officer Friendly’ program at his school for helping him choose law enforcement as his occupation. He also became a police officer because he wanted to help people.
“I was brought up [knowing you should always] go out of your way to help people when you can,” Lyons said.
Being a police officer is “to take care of the people who can’t take care of themselves and to protect the folks that need defending.”
Favorite TV shows: The Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead
Favorite restaurant: Texas Roadhouse
3. Officer Todd Hill
Officer Hill has been with IUPD for six years.
Hill became an officer not only because he wanted to help people, but also because he wanted to switch his career in sales to one in public service.
“Being a police officer is important because there needs to be a good soul out there helping people,” Hill said. “You [also] get to get out there in the community. Each scene I go to is helping a [different] situation.”
Favorite TV show: Professional wrestling
Favorite restaurant: Ocean World
4. Officer Jessica Lam
Officer Lam has been with IUPD for six months.
She chose to become an officer because it’s an exciting job field that keeps her on her toes.
“You get to talk to different people. You come to work everyday and you have no idea what’s going to happen.”
Lam believes being a police officer is important because “the world is not rainbows and butterflies. There will always be people out there with bad intentions, so someone has to help manage those [situations].”
Favorite TV shows: The Walking Dead and Jane the Virgin
Favorite restaurant: The Oceanaire and Ocean Prime
