shrewasyouplease replied to your post “okay but how uncommon is it to put milk in your tea?”
I didn't think it was uncommon to put it in hot, black tea. When I worked in a tea house, it was considered weird to put it in hot green tea (not cold) or herbal tea.
i literally add milk and sugar to everything. some herbal teas are naturally sweet, like peppermint and ginger and cinnamon tea, so i sometimes will not add anything to those and when i do people usually scold me for liking my tea “too sweet”

It's a British/West Indian countries colonized by the British thing I think. My American friends always be like ??? If I add milk to my tea but that's how I always had it growing up
Yeah, I picked it up from growing up, too. Often I don’t even add whole milk; in my family we’ll use either evaporated or condensed. It never occurred to me that it might strike people as odd. But my friend is Dominican, so maybe that might explain why she’s never heard of the practice.
