Sootkit -- Sootpaw -- Sootmask -- Dusk
Sootmask was born almost bright eyed and bushy tailed. They have a joy and ease about life that is sometimes eclipsed by their pettiness. They don’t take well to being criticized or bossed around, and can respond by pulling inconsiderate pranks to make themself feel better.
Their heart is generally in the right place though. They want a simple life in the now, which is what puts them at constant odds with their clanmates. They aren’t interested in the long and drawn out stories of old; they feel as if the present is much more important than the past. The insistence towards a way of life they don’t find valuable led them to grow more and more easily irritable in recent days, causing a lot of their clan to avoid them all together in free time. Although Sootmask didn’t agree with them, they did find the isolation from their kin quite lonely.
The nomination to become the next Dusk star walker after the sudden and unexpected death of the previous cat came as a shock. To Sootmask, this was the final insult to injury that their clan just didn’t want to even try to see things from their point of view. It felt like a way of saying go be happy somewhere else, which still stings. Sootmask doesn’t want to lose the little things that make them special, and they aren’t interested in being some big magic guardian who has to look at for everyone, especially after feeling ostracized by IvyClan. They have yet to receive their gifts and they’re still fighting, holding out hope that there’s something else for them out there.
