#TBT to two years ago today, when we went to Chicago for my birthday and met Joan Cusack in her shop, @judymaxwellhome. We didn’t even know if she’d be there, but wanted to see the shop anyway, because we’d heard it had fun stuff. Of course as soon as I noticed her behind the counter, I froze! I don’t have many favorite actors, and it’s daunting to meet one of them, because you never know what they’ll really be like. What do you even do when you’re faced with the person who brings your most beloved character to life? I didn’t want to say something stupid, and sound like a crazy fan. It took my hubby saying something to break the ice, and we ended up having the most delightful conversation - it made the day one of my best birthdays ever! I hope we can go back again someday, and I can actually get out how much Jessie means to me, for her strength and perseverance in spite of her struggles.
