He was excited

He was so excited.

It was finally visitation day. The long awaited event that Yancy had been looking forward to ever since the second he had last seen you from behind that damned gate.

So there he sat. Hair greased back, heart pounding with anticipation, legs bouncing up and down. He even had reached his hand up to check his breath every once in a while.

You could tell he had cleaned himself up some. His face was glowing, something that never happens, and scratches on his skin properly treated too. Almost as if he wanted to impress someone.

Looking over with a a toothy smile, Yancy made eye contact with another inmate waiting for his name to be called.

"Whos are youse gettin ready to sees?" He asked happily. The inmate took a second to reply quietly, simply saying his mother. Yancy nodded at that vigorously.

"Ya ma huh? Well I'm gonna gets to sees my (Y/n)" At those words Yancy puffed his chest out proudly. The inmate didn't seem to care, but tossed him a weak smile just to be polite.

"Oh I wish youse could meets them. They've gots tha funniest jokes! Ooh! An' an' the most beautiful eyes."

It went on like that for a while with Yancy talking mindlessly to the inmate untill their name was called. He waved them away, wiping the sweat from his palms against the scratchy fabric of his pants.

Without another person time seemed to pass slower. The clock up in the corner of the room didn't seem to be helping either. Every loud tick just made Yancys smile dip lower and lower.

"Ey uh, gaurd?" He called out at one point gathering the attention of one of the men in suits. "When is it mys turn tos go up there."

The security guard just furrowed his brows at him.

"We just called the last person up a bit ago to see there mother. Visitation time is over son. Get back to your cell."

He walked away without looking back, not noticing the way that Yancys face dropped.

His vision suddenly got blurry and his nose runny. He didn't even notice a tear slip down his cheek as all he could do was stare at the spot of floor between his feet.

"But I thought-"

He blinked to get the water out of his eyes.

"-I thought you would come."

You know, it hit me contemplating on the ending of ISWM. No matter if the post-credits scene is simply another thread showing ISWM as this connection point between the WKM series and the choose your own adventure projects, or a hint of things to come, Space is a turning point. Like there’s no where else to go at this point, any other project kind of HAS to move forward past Date, in whatever way that looks like.

We'll have to wait and see. But I do agree with your take. If anything ISWM help fill in the blanks for some projects. Like Wilford Motherlovin' Warfstache. In that, we see a second Wilford come into the scene and back out. That scene is connected to the Wilford scene in ISWM beautifully! Also I feel like it didn't just connect plot lines, it most likely started the next phase in Mark's universe. Thank you so much for this ask!
