I Was The Final Boss spoilers ahead;

I actually read IWTFB sometime ago so my memory might be a little bit hazy n I feel more than a little brainless rn but anyway I never NEEVVVERRRR wanna hear anyone say that baphomet x reaper hetslop ever because it's such a disservice to the build-up that;

establishes that reaper is gluttony, and

explores baphomet's shift into his own sense of humanity, given "love" as something all humans experience, specifically in the form of romance

first of all I hate seeing people view IWTFB as a sigma aurafarming mc slophwa when there's such a big focus on humanity as an element of baphomet's character it pisses me off so bad

Putting aside how the author handles the portrayal of the seven deadly sins (I HAVE SO MANY GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT IT!!!), I personally thought it was insanely genius to have baphomet's first love be the literal manifestation of gluttony — out of all of the human desires he'd explored outside of the tower, food was the consistent thing he showed interest in, and it made sense that he'd be much closer to gluttony than he ever was with lust, per se. gluttony was a sin he actually indulged in

when gluttony's identity was revealed, every single scene with reaper flashed through my mind too, bc her identity was planted since the very start. it was purposeful. the amount of times she'd lured him in with food, the overstocking of supplies back when they cleared a tower together (3 years is overkill, girl). it was so, so purposeful, and that too was well represented in her backstory fuuuuccckkk....

so to have baphomet fall in love with reaper was an incredible parallel to what he first fell in love with as a human too. but also AURGHGH the way he went about it was insanely real bc he avoided talking abt things like love out loud even to reaper and to the end it makes u think "oh he set this up, it wasn't love" but in the way that it's trying to convince u, he's trying to convince himself too. he's full of layers and layers like a fuckass onion or whatever it was that shrek said. he's such a complex character n I love seeing his development just as much as i love trying to understand the drive behind his actions

i normally don't have much things to say about manhwa i now realize but the way IWTFB's author just sprinkles details into the story is absolutely delicious actually

Baphomet is an alpha (which he’s very proud of when he figures out what it is because he thinks it means he’s superior as the more standardly aggressive gender). he doesn’t want to admit it but Beelzebub and Ra are kinda his pups at this point

Leviathan is also an alpha, but in a more tame way that Baph. I kinda ship them in a way so I could see them as a pair but I could also see Baph not ending up with anyone and just being content with himself too

humans have always had secondary genders and dynamics, but it’s a completely foreign concept to Baphomet as demonic beasts have nothing like it
