One easy way to prevent paper jams is to prep your paper before the scanning process begins. Many documents will be folded, stapled, or creased by the time they hit your desk to be scanned. If you’re scanning a large stack of paper, make sure to fan the pages out so they do not stick together. Also, ensure that all staples and paper clips have been removed since they can damage the scanner. Prepping your paper before scanning may take slightly longer, but it’s worth not having a jammed scanner batch. This article will provide more details on how to properly prepare your documents before scanning.Another simple way to prevent paper jams and keep your ScanSnap running at peak performance is to routinely clean your scanner’s consumables such as the glass, brake pads, and rollers. Start by unplugging your ScanSnap and gathering the necessary supplies. We recommend purchasing Fujitsu F1 Cleaner, but you can also use 90% or more isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth. Never use spray duster, water, or any other type of cleaner inside of your scanner! Instead, open up the ScanSnap and gently pull the release lever on the right side of the scanner to get to the consumables. Spray the F1 Cleaner on the lint-free cloth and clean the rollers first by either removing them or simply cleaning the exposed section of rollers, then rolling them vertically downwards to clean the other sides. Next, clean the glass lenses by sliding the lint-free cloth with cleaner across the length of the glass in a back and forth motion. The scanner allows you to save documents to cloud services. My personal choice is to use Evernote to store all of my scans. This allows for quick and easy organization of your documents. There is a difference between using this scanner on a MAC and a PC with Evernote. While utilizing  the scanner with a PC you can have a specific notebook open and the new document will be delivered to that notebook. However, on the MAC it will always go to the same preconfigured notebook. 

When I first started converting my filing cabinet I preferred to utilize the scanner on the PC to drop files into their proper notebook. After a while I found it much easier to just scan everything to my Inbox notebook and move everything into their final notebooks afterward.
