This evening's soaping adventures. Which also included emergency eye irrigation when water from the washing up splashed at me (I put my goggles back on until I was sure all the soap had gone) and somehow causing a destructive game of dominos with the things on my counter which ended up with a small glass bowl sailing across the room and me almost standing on many tiny pieces of glass. But back to soap; this is my pumpkin spice now made in two separate bowls to achieve separate colours, and with the addition of a safflower and turmeric for colour. And the green one is castilleish which I've layered in three layers of uncoloured, just nettles, and nettles and spirulina to see which I like most.

Today's soapy experiment is coffee! With ground coffee and decorative beans! Unsure whether I should add instant coffee as well or whether the brown will leach out of the grounds into the soap. It doesn't really smell of coffee right now though.

This was supposed to be orange? On the other hand, it does sort of smell of pumpkin spice!

The postman is bringing me presents again! Could it be I now have every single ingredient to make pumpkin spice soap? Yes I think I do!

Playing with the logo, not sure where I'm going with this. 100% lard soap, no fragrance or anything else added. Still has a very faint lard smell to it so perhaps a fragrance wouldn't go amiss. I don't know what it's like as an actual soap yet but a couple of people online have suggested using a secondary oil so I've ordered some canola which will hopefully appear at some point soon.

Batch 3 success!! Well, 3 of them were, I'm working on that bit.

Batch 2 have exploded D: was concerned about them not drying in the metal moulds, left them over the weekend, now they are stuck. Dropped one in a bowl of water and the fizz is nice, the lemongrass is overpowering as I suspected and the level of oil is an improvement. However, they won't come out of the moulds and they seem to have sucked up all of the moisture in the air around them and expanded...

Batch two, less tartar to citric acid, less oil and added in some lemongrass. Already feel better but the lemongrass is possibly too overpowering. I've called these "Nicole" after my friend who wanted a citrus bomb and hasn't been feeling brilliant recently, hopefully these can lift her spirits a tad.
