forgot the dragons

It is a common biological fact that animals inhabiting a small environment, such as an island, will trend smaller than their mainland counterparts. When a full-sized adult is, itself, the size of the island, this tendency often goes unnoticed by observers. In other words: when they were handing out insular dwarfism kits, someone forgot the dragons.

The animals of the Archipelago are approximately the size that Earthly observers would expect, largely through human interference; the predators, however, are rarely larger than goats. The striking exception is the dragons, which can reach sizes of "small town" or "islet" at advanced ages. This has led to speculation that dragons do not originate from islands at all, but instead from some unknown large continent hitherto unexplored by people. The dragons, naturally, won't say a thing.
