Flight Highschool Chapter 51
Been pretty busy with work but here is 51, actually had the translations but no time.
Anyans notes:
#1 and 2 were pretty self-explanatory episodes…
#3 The Normandie-Niemen (Нормандия-Неман) Regiment was a WWII fighter squadron composed of French airmen. Interestingly, these French pilots used YaK-3 fighters extensively on the eastern front and made a significant contribution against Germany. They accrued 273 kills in the Soviet Union from March 1943 to May 1945, and were awarded the Order of the Red Banner by the Soviets and the Legion of Honor by the french. Their name and traditions are still carried on: they used the Mirage F-1 as their main aircraft for a while and moved on to Rafales in 2011. Their current name is Escardon de chasse 2/30 Normandie-Niemen (2/30 Fighter Squadron Normandy-Niemen). In 2007, Sarkozy and Putin gave a speech together commemorating this squadron in Moscow, demonstrating that this squadron sometimes bridges good relations between Russian and France.
#4 Omega Air Refueling Services, based in Texas, is an unusual private-sector corporation that engages in air-to-air refueling (they are not state owned nor are they affiliated with the military). They sometimes have contracts with the US Navy to refuel Navy aircraft, and once helped the refueling of Royal Australian Air Force planes as the KC-30(A330MRTT) was delayed. Omega Air owns KC-707s and a KC-10.
