“Earth to (y/n)!” Your head snaps up to meet the worried eyes of your best friend Joey. You knew he had caught you zoning out again as he told you about his day yesterday but you couldn’t help it. “Are you okay?” He asks. “I didn’t get much sleep last night.” You tell him while stifling a yawn. “Your insomnia acting up again?” He asks and you nod. “You know you can always call me if you need me.” He tells you. You had had insomnia since you were a teenager. You were never quite sure what caused it, but you were still struggling with it to this day. Some nights were better than others but most of the time you came to work exhausted. “I know. But I don’t want your sleep schedule to suffer just because mine is.” You tell Joey with a shrug of your shoulders. You and Joey were lifelong best friends. You had met him through his cousin Bobby, your other best friend. You two met in middle school and just like you and Bobby, Joey and you were instant best friends. Later on, when Team Edge started you were one of the first people to work with them. You watched them grow their channel from the bottom up and you were beyond proud of everything they’ve accomplished over the years. “You’re my best friend you know I’d do anything for you.” Joey says and you smile before leaning over and giving him a tight hug. “I know.” Today was probably one of the worst days for your insomnia to be acting up. You had three Team Edge shoots and two meetings today. By the end of shoot two for Team Edge, you were practically asleep. You guys had decided to take a lunch break so you headed out to the red base lounge and collapse on the couch. You fall asleep almost instantly, the exhaustion taking over you. “(y/n)? (y/n/n).” You wake up to someone shaking your shoulder and your eyes flutter open to meet a pair of familiar brown ones. “Our next shoot is starting.” He tells you and you sigh quietly. “You know if your insomnia is acting up you can always-“ Bobby starts talking but you interrupt him. “I know I can always call you. What’s up with you Frederick boys always being such gentleman?” You joke and Bobby smiles. “It’s just how we are my dear.” He responds and your heart flutters at the nickname. Ever since you were in middle school, you had a huge crush on Bobby. You had never told him though and the only person that seemed to know about it was J-Fred. Yes, you knew it was an extreme cliché to fall for your best friend but you couldn’t help it. Bobby was funny, sweet, loyal, and overall a cutie. He would do anything for you and vice versa. You two were inseparable since day one and you knew you would do anything to keep that friendship. Bobby felt the same way. He never connected with someone as much as he connected with you. You understood him on a level that no one else did to the point he didn’t have to say a word, you already knew. He considered telling you many times about his feelings but he never had the guts to do it. “Let’s go before we’re late.” You say and he takes your hand, helping you up off the couch and leading you to the last Team Edge shoot of the day. After your last meeting of the day, you feel an immense relief. Hopefully since you did a ton during the day, you would be able to sleep tonight. Just as you’re headed to your car from red base, you hear your name being called. You turn to see Bobby walking over to you and you could feel a smile appear on your face instantly. “Hey!” He greets you before falling into step next to you. “Headed home?” He asks and you nod. “Yup! Hopefully I can get some sleep tonight and be ready for tomorrow’s shoot.” “Hey uh,” Bobby starts just as the two of you reach your car. “I know we always say this and I know you always have the same response, but seriously,” He says taking your hand in his making your cheeks redden. “If the nightmares are too much or you just can’t sleep, call me. I’ll be there in a heartbeat.” He tells you sincerely and you can feel your heart flutter like it does every time Bobby is around you. “I will.” You say and he smiles at you before looking away. “Okay.” He says. When you get back to your apartment, it’s a little past six, so you decide to make some dinner before relaxing for the rest of the night. By nine o’clock, you’re close to falling asleep on your couch. You get up, cleaning up your dishes and turning off the tv before heading to bed. You wake up a few hours later, confused and disoriented. You sit up in bed and check the time to see it’s almost four am. A slow realization washes over you that you most likely wouldn’t be able to fall back asleep. You debated on whether or not to call Bobby but eventually caved and started dialing his number. He picks up on the fourth ring and you can feel butterflies erupt in your stomach. “(y/n)?” He asks tiredly and you immediately regret calling him. “Hey uh sorry to call you I probably shouldn’t have I just couldn’t sleep and-“ You start rambling but Bobby interrupts you. “I’ll be there in 15.” Before you can respond, Bobby hangs up leaving you with your heart racing and hands shaking. Just as promised, Bobby rings your doorbell fifteen minutes later. He’s clad in a pair of sweatpants, a team edge shirt, and his hair sticking up in a billion different directions. However it was the most handsome you had ever seen him. “Hi.” You greet him sheepishly. “I’m sorry I woke you.” “It’s okay. I’d rather keep you company than sleep.” You let him inside your apartment and the two of you head towards your living room. You both fall next to each other on the couch and it’s quiet for a moment. “Oh! I brought cards. I figured we could play some games and maybe that’ll help you feel sleepy.” He says pulling out a deck of cards from his pocket. He starts distributing them between the two of you and you start a game of war. It’s mostly silent between the two of you but you could already feel yourself growing tired. After the third game, it was almost five am and you kept yawning. “Wanna try and get some sleep?” Bobby asks you and you nod. He puts the cards on your coffee table before taking your hand in his and leading you to your bedroom. The two of you climb into your bed and face each other. “Come here.” He says opening his arms up to you. You crawl into them and you can feel your brain calm in an instant. Being in Bobby’s arms gave you total serenity unlike any other. The second his fingers started running through your hair and he hummed quietly in your ear, you were passed out. The next morning, you wake up to your alarm ringing loudly next to you. You move to turn it off but soon realize you’re in a tangled mess of limbs. You carefully maneuver around Bobby and shut off your alarm. “Good morning love.” He greets you and your heart picks up again. “You can’t do that.” You whisper to him and he gives you a confused look. “Do what?” He asks. “Call me pet names but not tell me how you really feel.” You state and you could tell Bobby was taken aback. Instead of responding though, Bobby moves closer to you and carefully presses his lips to yours. You don’t react until Bobby reaches a hand up and places it lightly on your cheek. You lips mold into his perfectly and when you break away you could see the smile growing on Bobby’s lips. “Does that explain it?” He asks and you nod. He places another chaste kiss to your lips before getting up and helping you up. You both get ready pretty quickly and head to work together in Bobby’s truck. When you get there, you both head to red base for the first Team Edge shoot of the day. “Woah.” Joey says when he sees the two of you. “You guys look exhausted.” “We didn’t get much sleep last night.” Bobby says and grin appears on Joeys face making you roll your eyes. “Not like that ya jerk.” You tell him and he laughs. “I’m gonna go get changed.” Bobby tells you two before placing a kiss to the side of your head. “You said not like that!” Joey exclaims. “Not to that extent!”
