Juncture
If there was one thing that Jaebum could wholeheartedly appreciate, it was the air quality. He finds himself more drawn to the outside areas instead of the places where he could be confined inside -- and the festival in the park’s event area seems like a perfect place to be, all things considering.
There are people all around, filling every foot of green grass, figures swaying or bobbing along to the music that resounds through the area. It’s mostly youth, he observes, with the occasional young adult thrown into the mix, all with various form of familiarity to the bands playing. Jaebum himself is completely unfamiliar with the members of the band up on the raised stage, but that is unsurprising. He’s just gotten familiar with the most popular celebrities of 2015, so anyone who isn’t constantly blasted through the news is a stranger to him.
But the atmosphere is relaxed, even if there are a few that wander through the crowd obviously inebriated. He follows one particularly hyperactive one with his gaze until a phrase filters through his hearing -- For a second he wonders if he misheard it, head turning towards where he thinks the word originated from, and his right eye focuses in on the people around him. Until, he hears it again -- and when he sees her, it’s obvious to him.
Maybe not to anyone else, who might just think she’s letting her body move to the music, but Jaebum recognizes the particular way in which her limbs are moving and he’s instantly intrigued. Another time traveler?
“The beat is really daejjangta, isn’t it?” It’s a sly comment, but he says it (hopefully) loud enough for her to hear, just waiting, gauging her reaction.
