Celebrating Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker
In honor of the bicentenary of Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker’s birth (1817-1911), we are joining the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew by highlighting his works and contributions as one of the most important botanists of the 19th century. J.D. Hooker was the Director of Kew Gardens from 1865-1885, and during this time, he added thousands of specimens to its collections from his extensive travels.
