Something that feels worth noting: don't be constrained by the job description when applying. If it requires 6-10 years experience, but you have 4? Apply anyway. It wants you to have a whole list of skills, but you can only tick off 50-75%? Apply anyway. I remember reading an article about how women in particular tend not to apply unless they meet all the criteria whereas men are more likely to be like "eh fuck it!" & apply anyway. Tl;dr the hiring/job application process

is kind of BS. People in HR are looking at applications based on the overall feel of a resume & (maybe, if they read it) cover letter, and you'll get in the door if you make a good impression, regardless of whether you have the EXACT specific experience they say they're looking for. Good luck getting after it. :D

ah thank you for this!!! it is so hard to remember stuff like this when you feel like you’ve applied to every job ever and you’re starting to get discouraged. i just gotta keep trying!!!

I am! Wondering! I am a person wondering about the movie! It seems so good. But also a bit different from the book in a few ways that may piss me off. 😣

hey!!!! I promise you that the movie is really good!!!! it certainly has its differences from the book, but all movies do. this is definitely a more faithful adaptation imo than some other book to movie adaptations I’ve seen. it’s really important to remember that movies and books are created with completely different forms of media!! it’s hard to see someone’s internal thoughts in movies because you’re watching them from the outside, the same way it’s hard to visualize certain scenes in novels because you’re reading them from the character’s point of view. also, movies have time limits, which trust me, you don’t want a 20 hour long completely faithful movie. then there’d be nothing new and exciting! the movie and the book are the same idea but different beasts, you know? and becky (the author of svthsa) is really satisfied with the movie (she’s seen it three times)!overall, it’s a really good movie, and while there are some changes, they’re all for the better! the story translates across media really well, and I hope you end up loving it as much as I do.

❄️- probably summer. I love the heat. But literally any season that is not winter is fine by me.

Like, your roommate could at least acknowledge that the situation is inconvenient for you, & explain why her family has to stay over. But to not ask & act like it’s not a big deal is super rude.

she kept making little asides to me like “haha omg they are so crazy omg they are such a handful haha” which made me even more mad bc it’s like

okay now i’m starting to feel like you DO understand how hugely shitty this is and still you’re expecting me to just like deal with it

Gah I just read your post about the family invasion, reminds me of a roommate I had in college whose mom stayed with us in our dorm room (like, sharing a skinny college bed with my friend) without asking me because despite having money these people were too cheap to get a hotel 🤷🏻‍♀️

like to be entirely fair my mom has stayed over in my room with me before bc she really can’t afford hotel rates but like the difference is that 1) i ALWAYS give ample heads up when something like that is about to happen and 2) it was ONE PERSON and not my entire FAMILY staying with me, you know?

like your roommate should have been letting you know well in advance, ESPECIALLY in a tiny dorm situation, and my roommate should do that and also maybe stop thinking it’s okay to have 3+ people stay over in our Very Small Apartment!!!
