(for the ask game) walks in with a suspiciously jason todd shaped lump in my throat: yall got any jason?

i forgot to fix a layer in my most recent jason drawing/fucked this up a little bit recently but i tend to draw him with vitiligo that presented more after his revival. i also draw him with an uneven/broken and poorly healed jaw, hence the slant to his mouth.

i'm still nailing how to make him Big Scary while also emphasizing that he's fairly young because i think it's really important for people to recognize he isn't very old, and that colors a lot of his behavior. tim's currently older than jason was when he beat up tim in the tower, yk? i think he should be a little bit babyfaced and that it should really Hit you how old he is(n't) whenever he takes off his helmet, i'm just struggling to nail this while also making him look very worn from stress

a lot of people ask about this white in his hair i give him sometimes.

short explanation: holding to respawn being canon, that means that the blood transfusions damian is given during his time in the league (and after, see: the spinal fusion from morrison's b&r) are most likely from respawn, which means damian has exposure to the ACTH mutation. when adeline is exposed to the ACTH mutation via a blood transfusion from slade in the comics (if i recall correctly) it turns a bit of her hair white, though this doesn't last long. this is also the reason we're given for slade's hair turning white and rose being born with white hair.

ergo: damian white hair. he's not greying.

if i drew in a more realistic style it'd be even less visible, i don't think it shows up that much if you were to look at him head-on. i'm still figuring out how i want to stylize this which is why i waffle on it a lot

short answer: probably, if there is time.

longer answer: i'd like to reopen the discounted flats at least one more time before xmas season hits, but for the sake of responsibility i don't reopen my bigger/nonsketch commissions until i've finished or gotten an update to everyone on my queue. right now i have a backlog i'm working through because of a (hopefully resolving) family emergency that took up a lot of time a month ago, so it's gonna be a sec while i play catchup (hopefully over this week and weekend). if i don't manage to reopen the flats, i do mistletoe ship sketches in nov-dec and valentines in jan-feb every year, so keep an eye out for that!

HOW are you pumping out this much art so fast, it takes me at least three hours to finish one simple piece 😭😭

lots of practice! this is my full time job, so i draw a lot. getting good at gestures has definitely helped me a ton, so has learning how to be confident in my lines (freehanding practice in pen helps this a lot.)

the only other thing i have is to dont overthink it… i take very long on pieces sometimes because i get too stuck on perfectionism and giving this up has helped me a lot

my shaded pieces definitely take much longer than this tho 🫡 nothing but respect to people who dont take one million years to paint
