Ava's favorite meal is... something she hasn't considered, really. Rook Island is a cluster of culture and her pirate family just does what it takes to survive while on the run, but if they're feeling lucky then they'd manage to work things out with sinuglaw, chakalaka, krupuk babi and if they're lucky they could also manage braai. Gagatas is her favorite snack, while wingko is her fav dessert. Her favorite drink also happens to be temulawak, something she managed to snag as a child when people didn't know she was a pirate kid. So beyond the tastes, really, she thinks of her family everytime they risk life and limb to fix up a dish especially when its from one of their own countries, she knows it's because they miss home, so she indulges it especially when they make a Rook-ified version of it just for her. She luh that island life.
Jace's favorite meal changes every few times, but his most recent favorite (as all 19 year olds eventually do) is instant ramen. His favorite snacks come from the Asian markets, sweet corn or rice cookies or egg rolls, he grew up with an Asian face but with no real connection to his culture so most of his foster families wanted to make do with how he looked like. Poor kid didn't even know he wasn't Chinese until he was about ten, which is probably worse than the fact that there's kids who literally didn't know about themselves being Asian when growing up in a heavily white environment.

A normal day for Ava is a pretty synonymous day for her bad mental health days. She lives vicariously through stress, productivity and whatnot, she takes after her "mother" after all. While her family of pirates loves to steal drugs and fuck around to find things out for themselves, she's too busy being the one that aims to protect them from all harm considered and that sometimes means having to be stepped on for them to walk. It's a sad reality for her, but on the worst days she gets really angry and "unfun" when it's really just her being stressed over not being listened to. That's when she becomes the full depiction that is Vaas's rage mixed with Ajay's sense of responsibility, but it's still not enough. In order to relieve herself off the stress, though, she takes it out on target practice or using her weapons to shoot a place up. It's really the only thing she knows, but she loves to blow stuff up because screaming and throwing things is pretty much below her. Someone please send the poor girl to therapy, man.
Jace isn't always as happy as he looks-- but it's really because he doesn't actually know how to deal with negative emotions. If anything, when they do happen he ends up curling into a ball and crying it out with no means of knowing how else to deal with it. Which is hard when you have to move family to family knowing you once had people who would have loved and cared for you if it weren't for the possibility that they just didn't want you. And he thinks too much with his feelings, which is what started him wanting to find out who his parents were in the first place. Poor kid just wanted a stable family but got Jason, Ava and Ajay instead.
In conclusion: these kids don't know how to deal with their issues. Help them, man. (looks at Jason)

Ava was born and raised in Rook Island! She's never actually set foot outside of the place, so having to come into contact with high mountains and cold climates is a very new experience to her. Ever since Jason's impact towards Rook, the Rakyat have been taking things onto their own hands and that unfortunately means having to exterminate any pirates still lurking in the vicinity, so naturally despite all of Rook's beauty, Ava has never known paradise without a gallon of blood being spilt here or there. She's only ever known the North Island, the South Island's territories are still too much for her to get it completely.
Jace was born in Santa Monica, California, very much not far off where Jason was and still is, so it's interesting that they never crossed paths for a long time up until Jace was about 19. Ajay specifically left Jace under the care of a foster service that carried the information of his parents, knowing that if he ever got to be curious it was made accessible to him right then and there. In a way, Ajay pretty much knew Jace would be the catalyst for their search to find him, but he didn't think that they'd come all the way to Kyrat for the full damn thing. He's lived in various areas of California, but all of it comes back down to Santa Monica, man. That's where he was born.

Ava's afraid of losing her family and all that she had purpose for. That's mostly it; there's nothing to escape that fact and that leans into perfectionist tendencies that venture into disastrous territory if that doesn't get taken care of. She's just doing her best without knowing what kind of burden she experiences because of it. Again, someone save the poor girl.
Jace is afraid of having to work to get a family he really belongs to. He wishes things were given to him as easily as those kids around him, but kids like him just aren't in that category and he hasn't learned to accept that because he wants something normal. A normal family. A normal set of parents, a normal sister, but he and Ava have that thing in common. Normalcy isn't allowed for them all.
