A SINGLE WORD WOULD SECURE THE FREEDOM OF DETECTIVE MARCEAU -- SO THE JACK BANNER GANG MUST KEEP HER SILENT!
Despite the meaning of the title, the “safeword” here doesn’t mean Det. Marceau is in a consensual situation with the Jack Banner Gang. Instead, the word here is the signal for the cops to raid the gang’s lair. After the gang captures her, they take away her radio and gag her in increasingly strict ways. Just to be sure. The gag-talk in this book is pretty good, much better than the “mmmmphs” that lesser works resort to.
JON WOODS and the late JACK BANNER are the two gang members.
