On April 6. 1893, Andy Bowen and Jack Burke were involved in the longest boxing fight in history. The fight lasted 111 rounds (3 minute rounds each), it took 7 hours and 19 minutes until referee John Duffy called “no contest” after both men were too dazed and tired to come out of their corners.

🎞- A memory that never fails to come back to their mind, good or bad (Hannah)

Everything’s tinged now by what she knows of her husband Jack’s double life, but the memory that keeps returning is of him setting his heavy duffel over his shoulder and saying, “I’m gone, Hannah-my-queen.”  He didn’t like her to walk him to the ship, not when he could remember her dozy in bed, smiling, an image he could bring with him to the sea.

And to his other family, she knows now.  And who knows what picture he brought home of the woman and child he had in Marshwatch Haven.  But he always seemed to say farewell fondly, and it always seemed to be Hannah he would truly miss.  She’ll never know.
